Anthony Adebayo Adepoju, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency in Oyo State, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over what he described as unresolved internal crises rocking the party.
In a resignation letter dated May 5, 2026, addressed to the PDP Chairman of Ward 4, Isale Penbo, Igbo-Ora, Adepoju said the lingering conflicts within the party in Oyo State had negatively affected his performance as a federal lawmaker and weakened the party’s leadership structure.
The lawmaker stated that he remained loyal and committed to the ideals of the PDP since securing the party’s ticket in 2022, which led to his election into the House of Representatives in 2023. However, he noted that the internal crisis within the party had made it difficult for him to effectively serve his constituents.
Adepoju also described the PDP as a party with deep personal ties, noting that his late father, Dr. Amos Ademola Adepoju, was among the founding fathers of the party in 1998 and served as its National Financial Secretary between 1999 and 2002.
He explained that his resignation was necessary to enable him focus on the mandate given to him by the people of Ibarapa Central and Ibarapa North Federal Constituency, adding that his next political move would be announced in due course.
