Oyo Police Debunks Rumor of Alleged Killings During Egungun Festival in Ibadan

The Oyo State commissioner police, Shina Olukolu, has debunked rumour going round that five persons were killed yesterday 16th June, 2019 during the popular Ege masquerade procession in the ongoing Egungun festival festival around Idi-Arere/Oja’ba Area in Ibadan.

The commissioner, in a statement signed by the Oyo state police command public relations officer, Fadeyi Olugbenga, stated that the information is not true and no such incident was reported in any Divisions or Police formations in the state.

Olukolu, maintained that prior to the commencement of the festival, the Command had put in place necessary security arrangements in ensuring a crime free festival which is continuous till the end of the Egungun festival.

The CP, therefore reassure the good people of Oyo State and entire citizenry maximum protection of life and property during and after the festival.
