The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has released 1,535 promotion letters to staff across the state’s 33 local government areas, reaffirming the commitment of Governor to workers’ welfare and career advancement.
The promotion letters, issued as part of the 2025 promotion exercise, cover officers on Grade Levels 06 to 17 across the Commission and the seven departments in the 33 local governments.
The beneficiaries comprise 288 officers in Administration and General Services, 57 in Agriculture and Natural Resources, 40 in Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, 431 in Education and Social Services, 44 in Environmental Health Services, 315 in Finance and Supplies, and 360 in Works, Housing, Lands and Survey.
Presenting the promotion letters on behalf of the Commission, the Chairman, Bashorun Akinwale Solomon Akinwole, said the exercise reflected Governor Makinde’s unwavering commitment to prioritising workers’ welfare, motivation and career progression.
According to him, the promotion exercise demonstrates the administration’s resolve to build a professional, efficient and highly motivated local government workforce capable of delivering quality service at the grassroots.
“This administration under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde understands that a motivated workforce is the engine room of good governance. The prompt release of these promotion letters is in line with his resolve to ensure that no civil servant is stagnated and that hard work is duly recognised and rewarded,” Akinwole said.
He congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to regard the promotion as both recognition of their dedication and a call to greater responsibility in service delivery across the state’s local government system.
The LGSC chairman also reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to sustaining regular promotion exercises, strengthening capacity building and improving staff welfare in line with the Omituntun 2.0 agenda of the Makinde administration.
Representatives of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde and the Commission for the promotions, describing the gesture as a morale booster that would inspire greater dedication, efficiency and productivity in the local government service.
