Oyo LG Election Witnesses Low Turnout

The local government election in Oyo state witnesses voters apathy as pockets of electorate turn out at the polling unit to excercise their voting right.

12 political parties excluding the Peoples Democratic Party PDP and other leading opposition parties are participating in the election.

The Peoples Democratic Party announces its withdrawal from the race due to what it decribed as ingenuity of the electoral umpire ans the warp electoral system

Reports from various and villages in the state reveals that participation was very low as less than 50 voters were recorded in most of the units

When our reporters visited a polling Unit at Adebayo Children Welfare Unit in Irepodun LCDA, less than 10 people have voted as at 11:36 am and at accross the Polythecnic Ibadan gate, less than 20 people have voted at about 1:pm

Logistics problem and late arrival of materials in polling unit was also witnessed and many voters who had earlier came out with the intention to vote and return to their homes were disaappointed

Voting did not start in some area until about 12 pm in some places including the Polythecnic and University of Ibadan

Also, there were reports of Ballot Box snatching and figting in places like Odo Baale around Sango area of Ibadan and Ijokodo

Some of the OYSIEC Adhoc staff who spoke with our reporters said ” apart from the fact that we were not given materials on time, there is no enough vehicles to convey us to the polling units

With the development, APC is likely to win all the position being vied for as majority of the voters are either members  and mobilizers
