Oyo State Deputy Governor, Engr. Raufu Olaniyan and Niji Farm Ilero are partnering with Oke Ogun Youths on the cultivation of 250 acres cassava plantation at Olofin Village, Odo Ogun, Iseyin in One Ogun area of Oyo State.
This was contained in a press statement signed by Bola Olalere, Coordinator of Oke Ogun Green Revolution.
According to the release, the 250 acres cassava plantation is the first phase of an empowerment scheme that is aimed at empowering about 500 youths who are interested in agribusiness from all the ten local government in Oke Ogun.
The release stated further that the 250 acres of land used for Olofin farm were donated by the Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Raufu Olaniyan who also funds the clearing of the land.
Messers Niji farm, on the other hand, is providing all the inputs (tractorisation, cassava stems and herbicides) for the farm free of charge and buying back the cassava tubers at an agreed offtakers price on the harvest.
Niji Farm is also providing extension services for the farm which will be allocated at 5 acres per participants.
Oke Ogun Green Revolution is an initiative of Oke-Ogun Youths Association, aimed at encouraging young people to engage in profitable and commercial agriculture by creating a platform that will make the work easier and interesting to them.
