 Oyo Assembly Calls For Ban of Okada Riders From GRA Roads

The Oyo State House of Assembly has on Tuesday called for the ban of commercial motorcyclist otherwise known as Okada Riders from ploying Government Residential Areas due to security reasons.

This house made this call in a motion sponsored by the Deputy Chief Whip and Honourable representing Ibadan South West, Hon. Yusuf Adebisi during the house plenary.

Hon. Adebisi in his motion noted the importance of security on roads linking the Ikolaba axis, Oyo State Government house, secretariat, Oyo State civic centre and other exclusive locations cannot be overemphasized adding that the case of robbery and other criminalities have become rampant on those roads.

Recall that a man that was matcheted by someone pretending to get a ride along the area last week and there is also a case of one Taoreed Alao, 45, who was robbed of his motorcycle and 99,500 very close to the Government House on Monday afternoon.

He further call on the government to direct the Yemetu division of the Oyo state Police Command and Oyo Road Traffic Maintenance to mount 24 hours security and facilitate the procurement of CCTV cameras along government house and civic center to track perspective perpetrators of evil in the area.

Honourable representing Afijio state consistency, Hon. Seyi Adisa in his contribution to the motion further substantiate the call to government to enforce thorough restrictions in government areas.

Hon. Adisa further call on the executive arm to ensure the provision of mini or shuttle buses in the areas so has to help government workers move to their various destinations.

The speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin in his resolution call on the House Committee on Security matters to meet with concerned stakeholders and security outfits to see into the issue and report back to the house.

He further noted that the government should expedite actions and come on with a plan to build barricades from government house to NTA road to make sure.
