The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Deputy Governorship Candidate in Oyo state Engr. Muftau Open Salawu, has pledged their government will create more economic opportunities, promote inclusive prosperity and improve the welfare of residents across the state if elected in the 2027 governorship election.

The assurance was reiterated by Open Salawu during an empowerment programme organised for APM members in Ogbomoso South Local Government Area, where he announced a ₦5.5 million financial intervention for party members and other beneficiaries.
The programme, held on Tuesday at Methodist High School, Ogbomoso, attracted party leaders, elders, youths and supporters from across the 10 wards of the local government.
Addressing the gathering, Open Salawu said the Adekanmbi-Open Salawu administration, if elected, would create opportunities for more people to benefit from governance, with particular attention to grassroots development, economic empowerment and improved living conditions.
He stressed that the proposed administration would pursue inclusive prosperity, ensuring that development initiatives and opportunities were not restricted to a few individuals but extended to communities and residents across Oyo State.
As part of efforts to demonstrate his commitment to grassroots empowerment, the deputy governorship candidate announced that the financial support programme would continue monthly across the 10 wards of Ogbomoso South until the 2027 general elections.
The ₦5.5 million intervention was distributed among party members and other categories of beneficiaries. The breakdown indicated that ₦200,000 was allocated to each of the 10 wards, while 50 selected members received ₦20,000 each. An additional ₦500,000 was shared among persons with disabilities, drivers, youths, elders and others.
Open Salawu assured party faithful that more opportunities and benefits would be made available, urging them to remain committed to the party’s vision ahead of the 2027 elections.
He also commented on the recent political developments in Ogbomoso South, describing the exit of former Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Segun Ogunwuyi, and his associates from the government and the party as an opportunity for a new political beginning in the area.
He alleged that Ogunwuyi and his associates had frustrated some empowerment programmes and goodwill initiatives of the Makinde administration, preventing their benefits from reaching grassroots residents in Ogbomoso South and other parts of the Ogbomoso zone.
The APM deputy governorship candidate expressed confidence that the Adekanmbi-Open Salawu ticket would offer a different approach to governance, with emphasis on expanding opportunities and ensuring that the benefits of development reach more people.
Party members who attended the programme expressed appreciation for the empowerment initiative, describing it as a demonstration of Open Salawu’s commitment to the party and the development of Ogbomoso.
One of the party leaders who spoke with journalists said the intervention had further encouraged members, adding that Open Salawu’s humanitarian and philanthropic activities over the years reflected his interest in the welfare of the people.
The APM leaders and members at the gathering also pledged their support for the deputy governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 elections, maintaining that the party remained active in Ogbomoso South.
It would be recalled that Open Salawu had, within the last 11 months, donated more than ₦10 million to the APM chapter in Ogbomoso North Local Government.
Party insiders disclosed that the latest intervention formed part of a broader commitment to extend similar support to party members across the Ogbomoso zone in the coming months.
