Leaders of of Oke Ogun under the aegies of Oke Ogun Development Consultative Forum ODCF on Friday said it is the turn of the region to produce the next governor of Oyo state.
ODCF president Dr Segun Ajuwon while addressing press conference at NUJ press centre Iyaganku Ibadan said.” We believe as people of Oke ogun that the time has come to ask for and get this coveted position of the executive governor of our dear state.
” There are reasons for this clamour for the gubernatorial power shift to Oke Ogun, we are people located strategically in 10 out of the 33 Local Governments Areas of the state. However because of the physical distance from the capitals of the state and federal government we have been practically forgotten and neglected”
” The roads linking us to the state capital are all very bad and have remain so forever, I dare say, we do not have enough single Federal institutions except for the Nigeria Police and a few other uniformed law enforcement agencies whose presence is to collect taxes and other revenue without any compensation in the form of derivation as other sections of the country that are erning resources for government through oil and Gas”
He read further that, ” we have been. Patient but we are convinced that it is now our turn to lead. We have very many many qualified candidates of good standing, experienced with track records of excellent performance in public and private sector”.
” We have many aspirants already and we will still encourage more people to come out and we will bring out the best among them as candidate for the zone irrespective of the party”.
Ajuuwon who acknowledge the fact that oke ogun cannot win the governorship alone said ” we need the support of other areas in the state, we are therefore soliciting for the understanding and support our dear compatriot in, Ibadan, Oyo, Ogbomoso and Ibarapa, we all you all to join hands with us in this our quest and push, after all democracy is a game of numbers, we need many friends as we can get to accomplish this goal.
Some of the oke ogun leaders who also attended press briefing includes Engineer Remi Olaniyan, Barrister Bayo Lawal Honourable Bolaji Kareem and other executive members of the association.
