In a major move to bolster grassroots political mobilisation ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, the Alubarika Movement mobilisers held their maiden meeting on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the All Progressives Congress (APC) party secretariat in Ilesa West Local Government.

The meeting, chaired by Hon. Folarin Fafowora, a former two-term member of the Osun State House of Assembly, brought together committed party loyalists and grassroots strategists. The focus was to rally support for the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and the gubernatorial ambition of the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, in the 2026 Osun governorship race.
The Alubarika Movement, a dynamic support group under the Senator Ajibola Basiru Campaign Organisation (SABCO), is at the forefront of advancing the SRJ (Senator Basiru’s) political project. The movement is working tirelessly to ensure APC’s victory in the off-cycle governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026.
In his address, Hon. Fafowora urged members of the movement to intensify their mobilisation efforts across every polling unit, street, ward, and community within Ijesaland. He described Senator Basiru as a visionary leader with vast legislative and executive experience, both at the state and national levels.
“Senator Basiru stands tall among all aspirants. He is competent, experienced, and possesses the political acumen to transform Osun State for the better,” Fafowora stated.
The meeting concluded with strategic planning and a renewed commitment by attendees, who pledged unwavering loyalty to the APC and Senator Basiru. Confidence was expressed that the party would secure victory in the 2026 election.
Among the party stalwarts present at the meeting were Hon. Ademola Philips, Hon. Nurudeen Giwa, Hon. Rawlings, Hon. Busuyi Ajilore, Hon. Idris Olaoluwa, Hon. Tijani Alaba, Hon. Layi Fagbolade, and former councillors including Hon. Saheed Keshinro, Hon. Siji Ibironke, Hon. Morufa Balogun, Hon. Bose Sarumi, among other notable APC leaders in Ilesa West Local Government.
