e founder of the Olumba Socio-Political Forum (OSPF), Hon. Olumide Akinola, popularly known as Olumba, on Friday led scores of his supporters into the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), declaring support for the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi.
The defection took place at Adekanmbi’s campaign office during a special Juma’at prayer organised to mark the successful conclusion of his statewide thank-you tour.
The event, attended by party leaders, supporters and campaign officials, also witnessed the defection of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ido and Ibarapa East Local Government Areas.
Olumba, alongside members of the Olumba Socio-Political Forum (OSPF), a grassroots political group with structures across the 10 wards in Ido Local Government Area, formally joined the APM and pledged to mobilise support for Adekanmbi’s governorship ambition ahead of the 2027 election.
Also received into the party were members of the Remi Oseni Committee of Friends (ROCOF), who said they left the APC over what they described as unfulfilled promises and a lack of political inclusion.
Speaking at the event, Adekanmbi thanked the defectors for their confidence in the APM, assuring them of equal opportunities and full integration into the party.
He said the prayer session was organised to thank God for the peaceful completion of his statewide thank-you tour and to seek divine guidance as preparations intensify for the 2027 governorship election.
“Our vision is to build a government that carries everyone along. We are committed to fairness, justice and inclusive governance where every stakeholder has a sense of belonging,” Adekanmbi said.
He urged the new members to work with existing party faithful to strengthen the APM across their respective local government areas and mobilise grassroots support for the party.
Adekanmbi reaffirmed that the APM remains committed to building an inclusive political movement capable of delivering purposeful leadership and good governance to the people of Oyo State.
