The historical and cultural town of Osogbo Osogbo on friday came alive as thousands of cultural inclined people especially Osun devotee and both local and foreign tourist storms the city for grand finale of the 2017edition of Osun Osogbo festival.
Apart from the osun devotee, thousands of members Oodua Peoples Congress, Traditional rulers from neighboring states and communities also add value to the events.
Senator Omoworare who is the chairman of the event in a chat with journalists said, ” The annual festival of Osun Osogbo is one of the many cultural events in the state, the state is the centre of activities in Yorubaland and we cherish it so much.
” Omoworare also acknowledge the efforts of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola for his effort in promoting culture and tourism in the state”.
Omoworare also called for conscientious effort by all and sundry to support the state and federal governments move to develop and promote tourism.
Speaking on the significant of Osun water, Otunba Gbani Adams the. National Coordinator of Oodua Peoples Congress who led thousands of members to the event said. “Water is live,every living soul needs water and it brings good things, Osun is one of the deities who always convey our prayers God and she is recognized as a benevolent goddess of River”.
The newly installed Agbaakin of Osogboland said Olokun festival foundation will continue to partner other stakeholders in promoting Osun Osogbo and other cultural events in the country.
Ayo Olumoko, the Vice president of EFTAN in south west and the festival consultant said, the annual celebration of Osun Osogbo festivals is a product of consistency and determination of the king and other stakeholders.
Also Mrs Taiwo Oluga special adviser , culture and tourism to the governor of the state of Osun Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in a chat with our reporter maintained that Osun state government is committed to promotion of culture and tourism.
” We are actively involved on today’s event as we use to do every year and we will not relent in our efforts, the governor just approved funds for some tourism and cultural events ”
Ataoja of Osogbo Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olaonipekun, Laaroye 11 however offered prayers for the stakeholders ,Osun indigenes and government of the state of Osun under the leadership of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
The monarch also commended the governor for transforming osun state and promoting cultural events in the state.
The event also features paying of homage by traditional chiefs, Arugba, special prayers by the monarch and others,
