Another set of ten beneficiaries recently benefited from the scholarship scheme of oil foundation under the leadership of Eng Open Salawu
The foundation award scholarship to students from JSS1 up till higher institution of their choice and about 14 people have benefited so far
Apart from the schorlarship, Oil foundation also gives educational materials including laptops, notebooks and cash gift to students in Ogbomoso North and South.
The Foundation’s president Engr. Open SALAWU, while speaking at the presentation of the award said the foundation is part of Open integration of learning foundation which aims at supporting indigent students in achieving their life goals.
Salawu said the gesture is not political but a means of contributing to the society without expecting any returns.
He said ” As human, we must never forget that, we have two hands – one for helping yourself, the other for helping others. If your Neighbour is hungry, your chicken is not safe. For us, giving back goes beyond CSR, it’s an obligation
He maintained further that the beneficiaries were selected based on merit
Why reiterating his commitment to the growth of the younger generation Engr Salawu promised not to relent in his to effort to enhance the development of ogbomoso.
While urging private individuals to support indigent students in the society, Salawu said ” Though government is playing its own role in providing qualitative education but that role still need to be compliment because it is not enough”.
