The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, CFR, Ojaja II, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of his immediate elder brother, Prince Adetunji Ogunwusi, describing him as a distinguished entrepreneur, philanthropist and dependable pillar of the Ogunwusi family.
Prince Adetunji, renowned business tycoon and Group Chairman of Primewaterview Holdings, died at the age of 58, leaving behind what the monarch described as an enduring legacy of integrity, humility and service to humanity.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Sodiq Lawal on behalf of the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace,the foremost traditional ruler said the death of his elder brother had created an irreplaceable vacuum in the Ogunwusi family, the Ojaja Royal Dynasty and the entire Ile-Ife Kingdom.
The Ooni, who is also the Permanent Chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council (SNTRC) and Natural Head of the Oduduwa race worldwide, paid glowing tribute to the late prince, saying he exemplified honour, dignity and compassion throughout his lifetime.
Born on December 8, 1967, into the family of Pa John Oluropo Ogunwusi of the illustrious Ojaja lineage of the Giesi Ruling House in Ile-Ife, Prince Adetunji built a successful career in business as the Group Chairman of Primewaterview Holdings, earning respect for his visionary leadership and commitment to excellence.
The monarch noted that beyond his achievements in business, the deceased was widely admired for his philanthropy and readiness to support people in need through acts of generosity, sound counsel and selfless service.
“Today, the entire royal family mourns not only a brother and son but also a trusted confidant, a dependable pillar of our family and a man whose life reflected honour, dignity and uncommon compassion. His unwavering dedication to family values, his entrepreneurial spirit and his genuine love for humanity will forever remain a source of inspiration to us all,” the Ooni said.
He added that Prince Adetunji’s influence extended beyond the corporate world, as he consistently upheld the values of the Ojaja Royal Family through humility, exemplary conduct and dedication to societal progress.
The monarch prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased’s soul and asked God to grant comfort to his immediate family, friends, business associates and all those whose lives he touched.
While condoling with members of the Ogunwusi family and the people of Ile-Ife, the Ooni urged them to take solace in the impactful life the late prince lived, stressing that his legacy of excellence, kindness and service to humanity would continue to inspire future generations.
“Though his earthly journey has come to an end, his footprints on the sands of time can never be erased. We are comforted by the fact that Prince Adetunji lived a fulfilled life dedicated to God, family, enterprise and humanity. May the Almighty Olodumare grant us all the strength to bear this painful loss,” the monarch said.
