Following the declaration by Olori Wuraola Ogunwusi, that her marriage to Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has ended, Media Directorate in Ooni’s palace, has said at the appropriate time, the palace will comment on the matter.
The statement issued by Olori Ogunwusi, where she declared that marriage to the revered monarch has ended had hit the internet earlier in the day, drawing divergent views from the people.
Olori Wuraola who has already reverted to her maiden name, Queen Zaynab-Otiti Obanor, in a statement posted on her instagram page where she confirmed the crash in the marriage with Ooni “said there is absolutely no truth in the report of infidelity and infertility published about her. Wuraola’s marriage to the Ooni lasted 17 months.“We have got to stop this culture of shaming and vilifying women with false stories of infidelity and nefarious behaviour.
“The spread of false information (through ‘sources’ afraid to be identified) is the mark of cowards and a cover up for guilty parties to justify their horrific actions. There is absolutely no truth to the media circulated lies of infidelity and infertility from my end”.
“What I can confirm is that the Ooni and I are no more. I inhale love and exhale gratitude. My journey continues as humanitarian ambassador aiding women and victims of domestic violence and abuse with the United Nations. No matter how much time you’ve invested, no matter the use of media to silence and manipulate, no matter the circumstance, slander, embarrassment, threats and lies: Get out and seek immediate help.”
However, when contacted on phone, the director of Media and Public Affairs in Ooni’s palace, Comrade Moses Olafare on phone, said, “In this era of social media, where people have free access to the internet and rely on that to pass acrosss information as constitutionally permitted by laws of the land, people can say anything.
“Inspite of all being said on left right and center on the issue, decorum still requires that we in the House of Oduduwa continue to maintain silence, at least for now.
This is because marriage is strictly a private matter that should not be subjected to undue public uproar”
“Whenever it is necessary for us to talk, we will surely talk on the issue.” Olafare added.
