About forty traditional rulers in Akure south council area of Ondo state have, once again, thrown their weight behind the governor of the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, ahead of the November 2024 governorship election.
The group, Akure south council of Olus, led by its president, Olu Joseph Fabomi, made the pronouncement while on a courtesy visit to the governor in Akure on Thursday.
According to a statement signed by John Paul Akinduro, spokesperson to the Deputy Governor, they congratulated him “on the various successes achieved thus far”
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Olu Amudipe, Adekunle Ajanaku, applauded the governor for his people-oriented programmes, projects and policies, pledging the traditional rulers’ unalloyed loyalty to the government.
According to him, “We have followed your humble beginning as a resourceful entrepreneur and admire your unblemished record before venturing into politics. Despite the disruptive manipulations of adversaries, you still emerged as our executive governor with a kind heart and forgiving spirit.
“We also congratulate you as the flag bearer of the APC in the recently concluded primary election. Your ultimate choice by your party as their rightful candidate is clearly a divine calling”
Ajanaku reiterated the council’s unreserved support for Aiyedatiwa in the November 2024 election.
Receiving the Olus on behalf of the governor, his deputy, Dr. Olayide Adelami, thanked the traditional rulers for playing prominent roles in sustaining peace in their respective communities.
He assured them of the state government’s continued support and meaningful collaboration to bring development to the people at the grassroots.
Adelami promised to present their demands before the governor, whom he described as a listening leader who holds the traditional institutions in high regard.
