World Drug Day: Olota Tasks NDLEA, Security Agencies on Improved Action Against Drug Peddlers

Olota of Ota Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege has called on the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA and security operatives to be more proactive in their fight against usage and abuse of illicit  drugs  and human  trafficking in Nigeria

Oba Obalenge gave this urge in an interactive session with  Dr Joe Okei Odumakin  founder of Women Arise and Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre, Director General Ekiti state council for Arts and Culture  who paid unscheduled visit to his palace in Ota

Every 26th of June  is a day declared by the United Nation  to  observe the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to raise awareness about the impact of drug abuse and illicit trafficking of drugs.

The theme for the 2019 ‘World Drug Day’ – is “Health for Justice. Justice for Health”.

The monarch said the increasing rate at which the younger generation involves in drugs and child trafficking is alarming and need urgent action with a view of putting an end to it

“ Yes there has been a concerted effort at checking the excesses but those saddled with the task and other related agencies should  do more, let take a more positive steps in that direction.”

Oba obalenge who attributed unemployment as one of the factor responsible for the advancement in drug usage and abuse urge the government to create avenue that will enhance creativity and employment opportunities for people.

The monarch also appeals to youth and adult to do away with drug related activities because of its negative effect in the body system and the society.

Wale Ojo Lanre, Director General, council for Arts and Culture Ekiti state  in remarks said the adverse effect drug in the society is always negative and should be avoided , “ A drug free society enjoy relative peace and progress”. He noted
