Hon. Olamide Davies, founder of the Olaide Davies Foundation, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland, His Royal Majesty Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, describing his death as a great loss not only to Ogun State but to the entire nation.
In a condolence message issued on Monday, Davies extended her heartfelt sympathies to the royal family, the people of Ijebuland, and the Ogun State Government led by Governor Dapo Abiodun.
According to her, Oba Adetona was a monarch of rare distinction whose reign brought remarkable peace, progress, and cultural pride to the people of Ijebuland. She described him as a revered statesman, a symbol of wisdom, and a father figure to generations of Nigerians.
“The passing of Oba Dr. Sikiru Adetona is a painful and irreplaceable loss. He was a towering figure whose influence extended beyond traditional leadership. His voice carried weight on matters of national importance, and his commitment to justice, truth, and the preservation of Yoruba culture was unmatched,” Davies said.
She praised the late monarch’s over six decades of impactful reign, noting that he led with grace, courage, and a deep love for his people.
Davies prayed for the peaceful repose of Oba Adetona’s soul and urged the people of Ijebuland to take comfort in the rich legacy he leaves behind. She also called for unity and reflection as the community mourns one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning and most respected traditional rulers.
