Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (TOPS) chapter, on Wednesday organised a sendforth party for three of its members, who recently retired.
The three former lecturers are; Engr. Adeniyi Bamidele Adesina (Agricultural Engineering Department), Mr. Moses Alabi Okanlawon (Agricultural Technology Department) and Imam Sulaiman Tiamiyu Adeniji (Science Laboratory Technology Department).
Gift items that worth N200,000 were given out to each of the three retirees, during the sendforth party that took place inside the Secretariat of TOPS ASUP.
Also, the Oke – Ogun Polytechnic ASUP honoured a leader of the union, Surveyor Azeez Afolabi Jimoh, with qualitative leadership award, during the event, which was chaired by Engr. Saula Olanrewaju Ibrahim.
Chairman and Secretary of TOPS ASUP, Comrades George Abiodun Olaleye and Lawrence Oluwasanmi Ajiboye respectively, led other members of the union to honour the three retirees and awardee.
Other executives of the union present at the event are; N.A Ajibade, (vice Chairman )Comrade L.A Azeez (Treasurer), Comrade A.O. Abegunrin (P.R.O.), Comrade O.S. Ajao (Welfare Officer) and Comrade O.O. Olaitan (Financial Secretary).
Speaking at the ceremony, Comrade Olaleye eulogized the retirees for serving the institution meritoriously while still in the services of TOPS.
The ASUP Chairman informed that the union decided to honour Surveyor Jimoh with the award because of his dedication and commitment to the union, urging other members to emulate him.
Olaleye promised that TOPS ASUP will continue to protect the interests of its members, particularly their welfare.
Other leaders of the union who spoke briefly about the retirees and awardee included; Dr. P.O. Eniola, Barrister B.O. Olabode, Mr. K.O. Jimoh, and Mr. K. M. Babatunde
In their own acceptance/appreciation speeches, the retirees and awardee expressed their gratitude to the leadership of the union for the honour, describing the event as historical.
