Ogundoyin Poly Staff, Students Drum Support for Ogundiran as Board Chair.

The staff and students of the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic have written Governor Seyi Makinde, Oyo Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin and other stakeholders in the State declaring their support for the re-appointment of Dr. Samuel Ogundiran as the Chairman Governing Board.

In the letter dated 16th July, 2020, the Joint Action Committee, JAC of the three union (ASUP, SSANIP and NASU) of the Adeseun Ogundoyin polytechnic, Eruwa wrote to inform the Oyo State Government that the news made round media that the Staff and Students kick against or reject the appointment was not only untrue but also misleading.

According to the letter duly signed by the executives of the unions, It was a deliberate attempt by mischievous people, planned to mislead His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde; the good people of Oyo State and the entire Publics of the institution.
DETAILS OF THE LETTER;
RE: ONLINE POSTS PROTESTING THE APPOINTMENT OF DR. OGUNDIRAN, SAMUEL OGUNWALE AS THE COUNCIL CHAIRMAN OF THE ADESEUN OGUNDOYIN POLYTECHNIC, ERUWA.

Your honour sir, we have noticed some publication s in the online and print media in the past few days purported to be the position of members of staff and students body of the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa on the appointment of Dr. Ogundiran , Samuel OGUNWALE as the Council Chairman of our institution.

In our capacity as the leader of the staff unions in our institution, we unequivocally state that such publication protesting the appointment of the Council Chairman are sheer mis representation of the position of all the staff members of the institution on the said appointment and we hereby refute the publications totally as they did not emanate from us nor represent our collective position on the appointment of Dr. Ogundiran as the Council Chairman for our institution.

The claimed arrest of Dr. Ogundiran by the EFCC is nothing but a mere defamation of character targeted as the person of the Council Chairman, and such is just a distraction to the work he is appointed to do in the institution. As a matter of fact, the Council Chairman was invited by the EFCC and was released thereafter on personal recognition, having discovered that he had no case to answer. Since then ( May 28, 2019) there had not been any indictment nor follow up from EFCC on the said matter

From the foregoing, we State in clear terms that all staff members are in support of the appointment of of Dr. Ogundiran and the host communities are also fully behind this decision of the State Government. We challenge the ” enemies of progress” behind the publication of the falsehood to identify themselves publicly if truly they are proud of their evil merchandise.

Finally, use this medium to appreciate His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde on the renaming of our institution from The Ibarapa Polytechnic, Eruwa to Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa. This is strategic and symbolic to us, for it is the beginning of the new things to follow and come to stay in the institution.

Kindly accept our warm regards and support for the good works you are leading as the Hon. Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in Oyo State.

Oriire Kidnapping: Stop Politicising Amotekun Casualty Figures, Oyelade Tells Opposition

The Oyo State Government has cautioned opposition politicians against politicising the recent kidnapping incident in Oriire Local Government Area, insisting that misleading narratives about the state security outfit, Amotekun Corps, are unhelpful to ongoing efforts to tackle insecurity. The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, made the appeal in a statement issued on Thursday, saying Governor Seyi Makinde's recent disclosure that about 200 operatives of the Oyo State Security Network Agency (Amotekun Corps) had died since the organisation's establishment six years ago was being deliberately misrepresented. According to Oyelade, some opposition elements had wrongly linked the figure to the recent abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire, thereby creating a false impression that the casualties occurred during the incident. He described the interpretation as "cheap politics," stressing that no Amotekun operative lost his life in connection with the Oriire kidnapping. "For the opposition to turn the statistics on its head is nothing but cheap politics. Amotekun has not lost a single operative in the Oriire kidnapping incident. The only casualty recorded was a personnel who sustained injuries and is currently recuperating," he stated. The commissioner explained that the 200 deaths recorded since the creation of the corps in 2020 resulted from various causes, including illnesses, natural causes and fatalities sustained during security operations. He added that due procedures were followed in all cases, including notification of the families of deceased personnel. Oyelade maintained that the Oyo State Amotekun Corps remains the most funded and best-equipped security outfit in the South-West, noting that it currently operates 181 vehicles and 450 motorcycles, with a workforce of more than 2,500 personnel. He said the corps is the largest Amotekun formation in the region and one of the best remunerated. The commissioner further recalled that Governor Makinde had consistently advocated state policing and the deployment of superior weapons to security agencies since 2021 to enable them effectively confront bandits and kidnappers. According to him, the governor's repeated calls have received little attention despite the growing security challenges across the country. Oyelade urged political actors to approach the security situation from a non-partisan perspective and avoid statements capable of undermining rescue efforts or endangering lives. He also appealed to residents of the state to continue supporting the government and security agencies in their efforts to maintain peace and security across Oyo State.
