The Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin has assured the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC , Oyo State of government support and improved welfare packages.
The Speaker gave the assurance when the Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs Ogbuogebe Grace paid a courtesy visit to him in his office.
Hon Ogundoyin said the NYSC scheme is impacting youth across the country hence Oyo State Government will do all within its power to increase and improve infrastructural provisions at the Oyo State NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Iseyin.
“The NYSC scheme has no doubt benefitted many Nigerian youth particularly in the area of fostering unity and promoting self reliance. The Orientation Camp of the State NYSC will continue to get the attention of the State Government through the State Ministry of Youth and Sports. I want to sincerely appreciate the State Coordinator for the visit which has enabled her to intimate us with some of the challenges facing the scheme in Oyo State and let me assure you that the State Governor will be fully briefed. But on behalf of the Government of Oyo State, I want to say that we will upgrade facilities at the orientation camp to make it more comfortable for corps members and staff”
While speaking earlier, the Oyo State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Ogbuogebe explained that the visit was meant to reach out to the stakeholders in the State on the need to give more support to the scheme.
Mr Ogbuogebe hinted that regular increase in the population of Corps members posted to Oyo State has necessitated the need for the provision of more facilities as well as expansion of the camp.
She said work has commenced on the Camp’s pavilion and appreciated the Speaker for the role he played in this regard.
The State NYSC Coordinator equally identified some of the needs of Oyo NYSC camp to include a Multi-purpose hall , a modern kitchen among others.“`
