On Thursday,25/02/2021 some selected people gathered at the palace of Soun of Ogbomoso and chose seven among themselves those to liaise with the Federal Government Technical Committee on the take off of the newly established Federal Polytechnic,Ayede in Ogo Oluwa LGA of Oyo state even though they had announced Olagbami Osekun Hall as the venue of the pseudo stakeholders meeting.

The decoy was due to the parochial reasons behind the meeting. Some of the attendees were by proxy and they were included in the the committee willy-nilly. Why we are not against the gathering of people, they are covered by the 1999 constitution (as amended), to lawfully assemble.

We take exception to the reduction of the issues concerning the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, OgoOluwa LGA to an Ogbomoso affair alone. Even at that, there are five local government areas in the zone and Ayede, the host community falls within Onpetu’s jurisdiction. We do not know why any Committee on the newly established institution would not include the Onpetu, Onpetu in council as well as Alayede in council.

Any legitimate meeting on the school should have been held on a neutral ground, devoid of any suspicion. To be candid,if the meeting was held at Olagbami Osekun Hall it would have been clothed with some legitimacy. It curious to see an Oluwo,an idol worshipper paying his tithe to a church pastor. Igbo people would say”Mba”. Yoruba would exclaim”Eewo!”

Investigations revealed that very few among the attendees knew about
and we’re actually involved in the struggle for the establishment of the school. Kudos must be given to Senator Ayoade Adeseun, the harbinger of it all, retired permanent secretary, Barrister Olusegun Ige, Hon Olusegun Odebunmi(BUNVIC) and other people. Since in the field of play we recognize and hail goal scorers whereas they are not more relevant than other players. Let us conclude with this Yoruba proverb “Bi omode ba se oju minsin, minsin bi eniti ofe ku. B’Oba jebi ao so fun un.

Bi agbalagba ba see you hanniyan, hanniyan. Bi O ba jebi aa soofun ni”
If a kid looks sickish but guilty of offence. He will be told.

And if an elder looks deadly but guilty of an offence. He should equally be told. For peace, progress and development of Ogbomoso zone people should stop being cockoo in the nest.
