Ogbeni Labzy Alternative Empowers Young Nigerians with Cutting-Edge Digital Skills

Ogbeni Labzy Alternative, a social impact group committed to creating positive change, has successfully concluded a transformative two-week digital skills training program in Ibadan, leaving a lasting impact on participants and stakeholders. The initiative, Skill-Up Ibadan (Digital), was designed to equip young people with future-ready digital competencies critical for today’s marketplace.

Convened in honour of the late Mofehintoluwa Koye-Ladele, the program brought together 40 young professionals for intensive sessions facilitated by industry experts. The curriculum combined hands-on training in core digital fields with soft skills development, ensuring participants gained holistic, workplace-ready competencies.

Speaking at the Closing Ceremony, Adeola Adelabu who is the Convener of Ogbeni Labzy Alternative described Skill-Up Ibadan as his “modest contribution to the development of humanity by empowering the next generation with marketplace-fit skills.” He expressed heartfelt appreciation to sponsors and partners especially Tegbe Foundation, Sebs Hub, SkillNG, Lead Radio, alongside the dedicated facilitators and volunteers, for their roles in making the program a reality.

The program’s impact was underscored by participants’ testimonials, which confirmed that the training had equipped them with practical digital tools and soft skills to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving tech landscape. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors, facilitators, volunteers, and partners whose collective commitment ensured the program’s success.

Relatives of Mofehintoluwa Koye-Ladele were well represented at the event. Speaking through Mr. Jesudunsin Adebote, they appreciated the honour to their late son and brother, noting that the initiative helped ease the pain of loss. In a touching gesture, the family presented a cash award to the Most Improved Participant.

Highlights of the event included a keynote address by Hon. Seun Olufade, Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government, who commended the initiative and pledged significant support for future editions, reinforcing government’s commitment to youth empowerment. Goodwill messages were also delivered by Mr. Femi Adeleke (Executive Director, Tegbe Foundation), Arc. Idris Animasaun (Creative Director, 3SC Fans TV), and Mrs. Olajumoke Adelabu (President, JCI Ibadan), all commending the vision and impact of the program.

Certificates were awarded to all trainees, with special recognitions for outstanding participants, facilitators, and partners. The ceremony concluded on a celebratory note, with stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to expanding the reach and impact of Skill-Up Ibadan in the years ahead.
