The Oyo Frontier Group, (OFG) on Sunday asked the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the incoming House of Representatives to cede the office of the Speakership of the 9th Assembly to the South West zone and Oyo State in particular when inaugurated in June.
The group made the call in a press Statement signed by Hon Abiola Fagbemi, its Coordinator and a member the Nigerian Youth Parliament representing Oyo North senatorial district made available to newsmen in Ibadan.
According to Oyo Frontier group, the South west and Oyo state has contributed immensely to the progress, Development and unity of Nigeria in various way. and that the state has committed, competent and High ranking Honourable members that can effectively lead the House of Reps to implement the progressive policies and Manifesto of the All Progressives Congress.
” Oyo state has 3 ranking lawmakers including Hon Segun Dokun Odebunmi, Hon.Akeem Adeyemi and Hon Olajide Olatubosun and they have the required exposure and experience to lead the House effectively.”
The group stressed that Oyo state as the political capital of the South west and a home of progressives. deserves something better “other states have the right to also lead but for the equal and fair distribution of political power and to avoid over concentration of power in a particular state Oyo state should be considered.”
Congratulating President Buhari, Vice president Yemi Osinbajo, Asiwaju Tinubu and other party leaders of the party over the victory of the President and other party candidate at the just concluded election, the group said the President deserved the victory at the election for his performance in Rice revolution, Youth empowerment programs, Home grown School feeding program, Micro loan for the market women and infrastructural development in rail sector, power sector and road construction.
While calling on the president to include more vibrant and competent youths in his government, they also appeal to Nigerian youths to be united and committed to the nation building as the youths are leaders in their own sense who should take more leadership role in politics and governance .
