
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Segun Dokun Odebunmi, has formally declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat to represent Surulere/Ogo-Oluwa Federal Constituency in Abuja.
Odebunmi made the declaration on Monday during a high-level political meeting held at the residence of Ayoade Ademola Adeseun in Onipaanu, Ogbomoso, where key party stakeholders gathered to deliberate on the political future of the constituency.
The meeting brought together APC Local Government executives and influential stakeholders from Ogo-Oluwa and Surulere Local Government Areas, who expressed support and solidarity as consultations ahead of the next electoral cycle intensify.
Speaking at the gathering, Odebunmi, a former federal lawmaker, pledged to deliver quality and effective representation if elected, emphasizing his commitment to grassroots development and the overall advancement of the constituency.
He also highlighted his wealth of experience in public service, noting that he had previously represented the constituency in the 7th, 8th, and 9th National Assemblies.
Odebunmi who also served as as Chairman of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority Board, a position he said has further strengthened his capacity to drive development initiatives.
Stakeholders at the meeting stressed the need for unity within the APC and strategic political alignment ahead of the elections, describing Odebunmi’s declaration as a significant step toward consolidating the party’s strength in the constituency.
The gathering forms part of ongoing consultations within the party, as aspirants continue to signal interest in elective positions ahead of the forthcoming elections.
