Residents of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) Staff Quarters are to get 3-month notice and financial support to rent another apartment.
National Insight exclusively gathered that a cheque of about an N6million has been released to the BCOS management and a quit notice to that effect.
It was gathered that 36 families reside in the quarters, including 11 senior staff and 25 junior staff, out of which seven are casual workers.
An Inside source also told our reporter that some of the quarters were not occupied by the Staff while the entire structure is not in a good position.
Investigation reveals that the senior workers will get N200,000 while the junior workers, will be given N150,000 respectively.
Recalled that the move to demolish part of the quarters by the contractor generated controversy and a kind of resistance by the staff and some members of the public.
The Chief Press secretary to the government in a statement issued on Saturday said that the planned conversion of the landed property in Basorun to a GRA is intended to further develop Ibadan, reduce the housing deficit in the state capital and improve the internally-generated revenue of the state.
He added that the developer has conceded that the BCOS Mosque, the Chapel, the Pensioners’ House and one other building would be left untouched, while the government is also pushing for other measures that will ensure that the interest of BCOS staffers is taken care of in the long term.
