Ogbomosoland Consultative Council OCC on Tuesday presented a document containing developmental agenda programe for the new Soun of Ogbomosoland Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye Orumogege III.
The group formed by the immediate past Soun late Jimoh Oladunni Oyewuni also Innaugurates Oba Olaoye as the grand patron of the council.
The spokesperson for the group of prominent Ogbomoso Indigenes in the Council Amb Akin Oyateru while speaking at the meeting with the Monarch said “Your Majesty, it is the objective of this body, to transform our historical town of valiant widely recognized as a safe abode for those seeking refuge from the vagaries of life, into the destination for those who desire good life and prosperity in a conducive environment, leveraging our renown hospitality and amiability.”
“Working with you and for you, therefore, we look forward to Ogbomoso becoming that bright and shining star in the guinea savannah that beckons alluringly to all those who seek honest gain through sweat and industry that genuinely empowers, so that Ogbomosoland might live its manifest destiny and be great again. In this regard we stand ready to embrace true partnership to power this vision to laudable realization.”
He added that “The composition of the Council composition was exclusively drawn by the late Soun with inclusivity, development, unity and networking as points of focus. The membership is made up of prominent sons and daughters of Ogbomoso Land across all the five Local Governments Areas, that have distinguished themselves in various fields of endeavours, posses demonstrable skills and capacity to contribute to the development of Ogbomosoland while promoting unity, harmony and social cohesion across the strata of our vast land.”
While pledging the loyalty and commitment of OCC members towards the development of Ogbomosoland, under your leadership, they also prayed that God gives the King divine wisdom and the strength to shepherd the people of Ogbomosoland to greatness in the midst of peace, joy and love.”
Oba Olaoye in his response commended the leaders and members of the OCC for the selfless community services they have rendered to the Ogbomoso community since the Council was inaugurated in 2020 His predecessor, saying that he has been fully briefed and have also gleaned from OCC’s statement,the giant strides taken to move Ogbomoso forward.
He commended the vision of the late Soun for bringing the OCC model to reality because It has helped tremendously to channel our efforts in the right direction and has also developed a good network that has become Ogbomoso’s net worth. “I plan to retain the model and even make it work better in keeping with the emerging realities.”
He added that “my ascension to the throne of my forefathers is the Lord’s doing and I remain grateful. I also recognize the roles you individually and collectively played to keep the city stable during the several hiatus. Ogbomoso land is indeed blessed with highly successful and resourceful sons and daughters spread all over the country and in the diaspora. We must therefore harness this vital human resource to our advantage.
