Oba Gbadamosi Esuwoye II: Architect of Modern Offa. By Adewuyi Onigbinde

Oba Muhammed Mufutau Oloyede Gbadamosi Okikiola Ilufemiloye Ajagungbade I Esuwoye II hails from Anilelerin Ruling House of Offa in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State. He was born into the family of Alhaji Muhammed Gbadamosi Esuwoye and Alhaja Awawu Gbadamosi Esuwoye over five decade ago.


He started his education at the publicly owned Mohammed Bankanu Primary School, Sokoto, between 1969 and 1976. He proceeded to the renowned Maru Teachers College, Gusau, between 1976 and 1981, where he bagged Grade II Teachers Certificate. He then attended Birni-Kebbi Polytechnic between 1982 and 1985 from where he got a National Diploma in Building Technology.


In his quest to further his education, young Gbadamosi proceeded to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Building Technology in 1989. Between 1989 and 1990, he observed his mandatory national youth service at the Katsina State Housing Authority. His industry, commitment to duty and amiable personality endeared him to the hierarchy of the Federal Housing Authority, which rewarded him with an employment in 1991 which he honored and was posted to Lagos.

The ups and downs of life in Lagos coupled with the desire to make ends meet, which his salary then could not provide led Oba Mufutau Muhammed Oloyede Gbadamosi, Ilufemiloye Ajagungbade I Okikiola Esuwoye II to willingly tender his resignation letter in 1997 to seek greener pasture in the business of buying and selling of rice, sugar, salt and cement.

He has been successful in business and has risen to be the Chairman of MB Integrated Electrical and Data Services Limited; Zarm Poultry and Feedmill Industry, Lagos, a poultry business that prides itself as the biggest in Lagos State and Yammfy Nigeria Limited, a sister poultry farm located at Ilemona, Kwara State. Yammfy Nigeria Limited is today adjudged to be one of the biggest poultry businesses in Nigeria.

Oba Muhammed Mufutau Oloyede Gbadamosi Okikiola Ilufemiloye Ajagungbade I Esuwoye II has a pleasant personality. He is a man of vigour, agility and ability, endowed with great and admirable character. He is humility-personified, unassuming, a lover of the downtrodden and a giver to a fault. If Oba Mufutau Muhammed Oloyede Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II has seen farther than this, it is by standing on the shoulders of the giants. He is a respecter of persons and has great respect for all Offa sons and daughters and other Nigerians, irrespective of tribal cultural differences.

He is a detribalised Nigerian.
A man who prides himself as the true son of Offa is always with deep concern for others in times of need. He is a generous man and a lot of people both home and abroad have benefited from his magnanimity. Also because of his commitment and deep love for Offa people, coupled with his innate desire to put Offa as a town on the world map, he rebuilt Olofa’s Palace which had hitherto cried for renovation and has since been completed and commissioned by the immediate past Senate President, His Excellency, Dr Bukola Saraki, former Executive Governor of Kwara State. Today, the multimillion naira palace is one of the best in Africa. Oba Gbadamosi has facilitated several projects for development and progress of Offa Kingdom. The projects include the following:

.Completion of the hitherto abandoned ODU Hall.
.Completion of the third phase of the Offa Central Mosque.


.The introduction of the annual Ijakadi Festival with the aim of placing emphasis on our cultural heritage.

.Rebuilding of the Owode burnt market within two months of the incident in order to put smiles on the faces of the market women and men.


.Approval and takeoff of PAN African College of Education, Offa.


.Construction of 20 Doctors Quarters to enhance the existing one.


.Tarring of Anilelerin Road, Offa.
.Relocation of NDLEA office to present site in the GRA.


.Construction of multimillion naira MOPOL Barracks, now 68 PMF Squadron Base, Offa.


.Approval and construction of a new Police Divisional Headquarters along Ojoku Road, Offa.


.Approval of a fire service station with two firefighting trucks in Offa, and;
.Re-roofing and painting of the three phases of Offa Central Mosque.


Oba Mufutau Muhammed Oloyede Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II has received several meritorious awards.

He is a fellow of the Chartered of Institute of Management and Institute of Research.

His hobbies include playing badminton and travelling. Oba Mufutau Muhammed Oloyede Gbadamosi Okikiola Esuwoye II has traversed the length and breadth of the globe. The Olofa traditional stool is a highly respected one in the country. Oba Gbadamosi is married and blessed with adorable children. To the glory of Almighty Allah, he is the 24th Olofa of Offa and the first graduate to ascend to the exalted throne of his forefathers.


As today marks his 10th year on the throne of his forefathers, the grand reception has been postponed to a later date because of the raging deadly coronaviruse in the country and the world at large.
Wishing His Royal Majesty many more years on the royal stool of Olofa.
