Orangun of Oke Ila, Oba Dokun Abolarin, on Thursday commissions multimillion naira building constructed for Abolarin College in Oke Ila
Abolarin College was founded in 2013 by the monarch where students from different ethnic backgrounds in Yoruba lands are being offered free education
The event which was held at the school hall had in attendance, dignitaries from all walks of life including Ekiti state Governor Dr Kayode Fayemi, former Governor of Osun state Chief Bisi Akande and his erstwhile Deputy, Iyiola Omisore.
Others includes Hon Niyi Afuye, Professor Babajide Owoeye,Professor Oyediran Traditional Rulers from Osun and Ekiti among others.
Speaking about the School, Oba Abolarin who was also celebrating his 60th Birthday anniversary said , his decision to found the school was to give equal opportunities to the indigent children for education with a view to raising future leaders for the country.
“It’s a divine calling and a mandate for me to do it. I owe this generation the mandate to do this. We want to democratise education. That is why we bring children from different tribes of this country to benefit from it.”
He said further that the school was born out of passion to give the children of the less privilege a better opportunity and platform to shape their lives with quality education and moral training that will help them in becoming a leader that will take Nigeria to the next level.
Former governor of Osun state Chief Bisi Akande commended the monarch of Oke-Ila Orangun, Oba Adedeokun Abolarin, the founder of the Abolarin College, for establishing the school for the children of the less privileged.
“The kabiyesi is building a legacy of greatness. He working for a noble cause. I pray that ASUU will not destroy the ambition of Kabiyesi in the future,” Akande said.
Also Professor Babajide Owoeye, propietor Lead City University Ibadan while soliciting support for the school said his family would stock the library with required books for the usage of the students
