O’1st Group Holds Lecture on Drug Abuse in Ogbomoso

In commemoration of the 2019 international day on drug abuse and illicit trafficking, Ogbomoso first initiative in collaboration with the National drug law enforcement agency held a lecture on drug abuse.

The lecture tagged medico social aspect of drug abuse was held at the chief Tunde Afolabi Lecture theatre of Ladoke Akintola University of technology.

In his welcome address, the commandant NDLEA ogbomoso zone, Mallam Aminu yussuf eulogised the unceasing efforts of O’first group towards the eradication of drug abuse and illicit trafficking in Ogbomoso zone and its environs.

In his address, the president of the group, Sir Ademola Dare Williams represented by the secretary general Engr Akin Oyekola said if we do not work together to banish act of drug abuse its effect would later hunt the society.

The guest lecturer, Doctor Kareem Lukman said noted that the menace of drug abuse will not only be on the abuser, but the family and the entire society pointing out that drug abuse cuts across social status, Ages and tribes thus encouraging users to desist from it.

Among other events which took place were, LAUTECH inter-faculty debate, inter-secondary schools essay competition with dignitaries and agencies in attendance such as the Aale of Okelerin Oba Samuel Amao JP, Representatives of the Onpetu of Ijeru land, Representatives of LAUTECH VC, Nigeria Police force,Nigeria Prison Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NAPMED, Nigeria Women Society in attendance.
