Federal Government have been urged to upgrade facilities at the Ibadan airport to international standard

This was part of the resolution issued at the end of monthly congress of Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ, Oyo state chapter in Ibadan

In a communique signed by the union Secretary Bola Ogunlayi , the Union raised a concern about the low patronage of the Ibadan Airport by Airline operators and passengers and the need to increase the facility to international standard.

On the minimum wage, the media practitioners frown at the position of the governments at the federal and state levels and called on the government to consider the plight of the workers by agreeing to the proposed N30, 000 minimum wages saying, it is not comparable to what obtains in other climes.

The Union commends Oyo State Government on the approval of outstanding salary arrears to its work force and called on the government to effect immediate payment of such to all categories of workers including, those working at the state owned tertiary institutions.

While charging journalists to to always be alive to their responsibilities in the discharge of their duties the union also emphasized the need for them to be security conscious at all time and tasked the general public to accord journalists due respect in the discharge of their duties.
