The Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki (TOPS) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) on Wednesday declared that contrary to an online publication, it is actively participating in the on-going industrial action by the Joint Action Committee (JAC).

The union said its attention has been drawn to an online publication captioned “The Oke-Ogun Poly Staff Dissociate Self from JAC Strike”, describing those behind the misleading publication as mischievous and disgruntled.

In a statement by its Chairman, Comrade Olaleye George Abiodun and Secretary, Comrade Ajiboye Lawrence Oluwasanmi,  the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic ASUP maintained that those behind the misleading publication recently withdrew their membership of the union, and therefore, cannot speaking for TOPS ASUP.

The statement added that the only Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki chapter of ASUP recognized at both the zonal and national levels is the one led by Comrade Oleleye G.A. (Chairman) and Comrade Ajiboye L.O. (secretary), urging members of the public to disregard any correspondence from “self-acclaimed leadership of ASUP in the institution”.

The statement reads in part: “For the avoidance of doubt, the union remains an indivisible entity and has never authorized anybody to communicate the public on her behalf. We affirm our unalloyed support to the struggle of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) in Oyo state and not in any way betray its course.

“In the light of this, we enjoin the public to disregard any correspondence from these self-serving and self-seeking individuals who do not mean well for the union and institution”.
