The Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr) Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa I, has called for stronger intelligence sharing among security agencies and other accredited stakeholders, saying accurate security intelligence is crucial to Nigeria’s survival.
Oba Ladoja made the call when participants of the Advanced Defence Intelligence Officers Course 16 of 2026, Defence Intelligence College, Abuja, paid a courtesy visit to his palace at Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
The monarch stressed that intelligence sharing remained critical to tackling insecurity across the country, noting that military force alone could not win the war against insecurity.
“To overcome insecurity occurrences in Nigeria, there must be intelligence reports sharing among the accredited security stakeholders in the country, as only bullets cannot win the insecurity war,” the Olubadan said.
He also identified the lack of clearly defined constitutional roles for traditional rulers as a major challenge limiting their ability to contribute effectively to national security.
Ladoja therefore called on the Federal Government to constitutionally empower traditional rulers to perform more effectively, particularly as custodians of valuable intelligence within their respective domains.
Earlier, the Commandant of the Defence Intelligence College, Usman Mainadara Bugaje, who spoke through the Team Leader, Director Jonathan Nyan, expressed appreciation to the Olubadan and members of his council for the warm reception accorded the participants.
He said the participants were in Oyo State, particularly Ibadan, to draw from the historical and intelligence experiences of Oba Ladoja, whom he described as both “a man of history and a man of the moment.”
The participants are in Oyo State on a five-day study tour focused on the theme, “Strengthening National Intelligence Multi-Agency Coordination and Regional Security Cooperation.”
The visit was also intended to secure the Olubadan’s royal blessings and support for the participants throughout their study tour of Oyo State and beyond.
Among those present at the courtesy visit were the Aseyin of Iseyinland and Chairman of Oke-Ogun Obas and Chiefs, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola, Adeyeri III, Ajirotutu I; Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Tajudeen Abimbola Ajibola; Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Sir) Eddy Oyewole; and Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr) Kolawole Adegbola.
Others included Ashipa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Salawudeen Amidu Ajibade; Ashipa Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Dauda Abiodun Azeez; and Ekerin Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Akeem Mobolaji Adewoyin.
