The House of Representatives candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire Federal Constituency, Dr. Kunle Adegbite, has adopted the three children of the late Mr. John Olaleye, one of the victims of the May 15, 2026 bandit attack in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The adoption, carried out through the Twindad Foundation, will see the children—Daniel, Joy and Morayo Olaleye—relocated to the Twindad Orphanage Home in the Hamama area of Ogbomoso, where they will receive accommodation, education, healthcare and other welfare support.
Mr. Olaleye was among the teachers abducted by armed bandits during the attack on schools in the Esiele-Yawota axis of Oriire Local Government. He was later killed by his captors, leaving behind his wife and three children.
Announcing the initiative in a statement, Dr. Adegbite expressed condolences to the Olaleye family and all families who lost loved ones in the attack, describing the incident as a heartbreaking tragedy.
“Twindad Foundation extends its deepest condolences to the family of Mr. Olaleye, who tragically lost his life in a bandit attack in Esiele-Yawota. We mourn this heartbreaking loss and stand in solidarity with everyone affected by this senseless act of violence,” he said.
He explained that the Foundation’s decision to adopt the children was driven by its commitment to protecting vulnerable children and ensuring they are not deprived of opportunities because of tragic circumstances.
“In response to this tragedy, the Twindad Foundation has officially adopted the three children left behind by the late Mr. Olaleye. This decision reflects our unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable children and ensuring that no child is left without hope because of circumstances beyond their control,” Adegbite stated.
According to him, the Foundation will provide the children with quality education, healthcare, emotional support and a secure environment to enable them to build a brighter future.
“Our commitment goes beyond words. The Foundation will provide the children with access to education, healthcare, emotional support and a safe environment where they can grow, dream and build a brighter future. We believe that every child deserves love, dignity and the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the hardships they face,” he added.
Dr. Adegbite also appealed to individuals, corporate organisations and other well-meaning Nigerians to support vulnerable children and families affected by violence.
“We call on individuals, organizations and compassionate members of society to continue supporting efforts that bring hope to children and families affected by violence. Together, we can restore hope where there is despair and help build a future where every child has the opportunity to thrive,” he said.
