Nathaniel Bassey and Mercy Chinwo, two of Nigeria’s gospel music sensations, are featuring on the acclaimed magazine show, the Glo-sponsored African Voices Changemakers on CNN this weekend.

Host of the show, Larry Madowo will take the guests  on the 30-minute presentation, which will feature thrilling moments from the two musical giants.

Mercy Chinwo captivates her admirers with her voice, stage presence, and charisma, while Bassey’s musical prowess draws large crowds both in person and virtually, particularly with The Halleluiah Challenge.

Bassey, a Nigerian singer, trumpet player, and gospel songwriter, was born in Akwa Ibom State on August 27, 1981. He is well-known for his songs “Yahweh Sabaoth,” “Ebenezer,” “Tobechukwu,” “Imela,” “Onise Iyanu,” and “Olowogbogboro.”

Before relocating to London, where he studied Politics and then Music at the Middlesex University Summer School in the United Kingdom, he had obtained a degree in International Relations and Politics at the University of Lagos.

Bassey is one of the most well-known and well-listened to gospel music preachers in Nigeria, and he is well-known for his humility. His songs span a variety of genres, including medley, jazz, worship, and hymns. In Victoria Island, Lagos, he serves as the pastor of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, King’s Court.

Mercy Nnenda Chinwo-Blessed, on the other hand, was born on September 5, 1991, and began her foray into church at the age of six. After agreeing to a recording deal with EeZee Conceptz in 2017, she released her debut single, “Excess Love,” in 2018. The International Business Management Institute awarded her a degree in Human Resources Management (IBMI). At the 2020 AFRIMMA Awards, she won the title of Gospel Artiste of the Year. She had also won the Africa Gospel Music of the year at the CLIMA Africa Award 2022.
