The Western Zone of the National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) on Thursday, September 25, 2025, held its 3rd Annual Symposium at the Rotary Club Secretariat, Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan, Oyo State, with industry leaders, trade partners, and stakeholders brainstorming on the future of Nigeria’s tourism sector.
The event, which commenced at 11:00 a.m., featured presentations from trade partners including Rwandair, Amadeus, and Sabre, who highlighted innovations and opportunities available to travel agencies and operators in Nigeria.
In his welcome address, the Vice President of NANTA Western Zone, Otunba Babatunde Adesokan, commended members for their resilience in navigating the complexities of the travel and tourism sector while urging them to embrace new strategies for growth.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the National President, Mr. Yinka Folami, the National Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Lola Adewole, emphasized the association’s commitment to repositioning tourism as a key driver of economic development in Nigeria.
One of the high points of the symposium was the panel discussion themed “Nigeria Tourism Industry: Overcoming Challenges, Achieving Success.” The session brought together four distinguished panelists who shared insights on tackling industry challenges such as poor infrastructure, regulatory hurdles, and limited investment, while also highlighting the immense potential of tourism to contribute significantly to the nation’s GDP. The panel discussion lasted one hour and fifty minutes, followed by a 20-minute interactive Q&A session with participants.
Earlier in the day, the zonal secretary, Mr. Temitope Ogunsebikan, presented the minutes of the last meeting alongside the financial report for adoption.
The symposium reaffirmed NANTA’s commitment to fostering partnerships, driving innovation, and providing a platform for meaningful dialogue aimed at boosting Nigeria’s tourism and travel industry.
