Motorists Stranded on Ogbomoso-Oyo Road

Motorists plying Ogbomoso – Oyo road have in the past few days been experiencing terrible hitch and delay on the road.

The heavy downpour which has further aggravated the deplorable condition of the roads has elongated the journey of about a less than an hour to five hours and more.

Infact many travellers who are going to Ibadan and Lagos now consider taveling through the newly constructed Ogbomoso- Iseyin and link Ibadan through Moniya-Iseyin road.

Although, the reckless driving of the truck and articulated drivers is also responsible for the griddlock as majority of them abandoned the damaged old road and face the ongoing express road project.

The construction company are not pleased with the development and  they blocked some of the exit routes which in turn make movement difficult for the drivers .

National insight publisher was also stranded on the road and in an interraction with some motorists, they decried the slow phase on the road and urge the Federal government and the contractors to hasten up work on the road

” We have been on this spot for more that five hours, we are already late for what we are going for and we are not sure of when this will be cleared. wee manage to get to this place and everywhere is blocked now no movement at all, thise trailer drivers have blocked the road” said a stranded commercial driver Sakiru Akande

A taveler Mr Kayode Ogunsola while narrating his experience on the road said ” we left Ogbomoso by 3 pm and got to Ibadan after 12:am midnight, it was a terrible experience, i learnt some of the heavy trucks plying the road have issues, and some of the drivers have consciously or unconsciously blocked the road no movement for anybody even those with escort do not have a smooth sail”

The construction company staff are fixing the damaged portion at the alternative routes to make movement easy but as at the time of filing this report travelers are still stranded on the road .

Motorists however urged the Federal government to compel the Federal Road Maintainance Officers to fix the damage portion on the old road to ease movement also to Oyo state Government to effect a solid and instant evacuation of damaged vehicles on both the old road and the express road to avoid delay and generate revenue.
