The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 43-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, for allegedly killing his elder brother in Sepeteri area of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the incident was reported at the Ago-Amodu Divisional Police Headquarters, Sepeteri, by one Badmus Yunisa of Alegunlode Compound.
The suspect was alleged to have attacked his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, 52, following an accusation that the deceased had shot him in a dream while he was asleep the previous night. Acting on the claim, Suleiman reportedly approached his brother where he was seated, picked up a heavy rock and struck him on the head before fleeing the scene.
The victim was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital, Sepeteri, for medical attention but was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.
Police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Amodu Division visited the scene and the hospital as part of preliminary investigations. The suspect was later arrested and has reportedly confessed to the crime, while cooperating with investigators.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Femi Haruna, has ordered that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation.
The Command assured residents that justice would be pursued in accordance with the law and urged members of the public to remain law-abiding.
