A retired Commissioner of Police and Special Adviser on Security to Oyo State Governor, Fatai Owoseni, has resigned from his appointment.
In a resignation letter dated May 7, 2026, and addressed to the Governor of Oyo State through the Chief of Staff, Owoseni said he was stepping down as the Special Adviser on Security and Executive Secretary of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund (OYSSTF).
The letter, which was received at the Office of the Chief of Staff on the same date, indicated that the resignation would also affect his representation of the state at the Forum of National and Subnational Security Officials (FONSSO) in the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), as well as his membership of the board of the Oyo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun.
Owoseni noted that details of the OYSSTF bank accounts to which he was a signatory had been attached to ease the transition process.
He added that he would remain available to assist in processing changes in signatories and provide professional advice on security-related matters whenever required.
The retired police commissioner expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity to serve the state.
“I seize this opportunity to express my immense gratitude to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, for the opportunity to serve our State in my own modest capacity,” the letter partly read.
Owoseni prayed for continued progress and development for the state while assuring the governor of his “esteemed regards.”
