The Oyo State Government has said the recent resignation of some commissioners from Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, including the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Barrister Ayobami Ojo, did not come as a surprise to the governor.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, stated this in a statement issued on Monday, November 2, 2026, describing the developments as something that “comes with the times.”
According to Oyelade, unlike some supporters who might feel betrayed by the wave of resignations, Governor Makinde has a sense of déjà vu, having anticipated the political developments.
He noted that the governor had demonstrated unusual courage, composure and conviction in the face of what he described as sustained and unfettered intimidation, even as some of his colleagues allegedly capitulated against their personal convictions.
Oyelade said the governor was sending a clear message about the importance of standing by one’s conscience and the truth, regardless of prevailing political circumstances.
Quoting the governor’s position, he said: “Conscience is an open wound and only truth can heal it.”
The commissioner added that Makinde was reassuring Nigerians, particularly the people of Oyo State, that cowardice and prevarication were not virtues the country needed at a critical time.
He further expressed the view that an era characterised by lies, empty promises, cajoling and deceit was gradually coming to an end.
Oyelade maintained that the governor’s position reflected his determination to uphold truth and remain steadfast despite the political developments surrounding his administration.
The statement was signed by Prince Dotun Oyelade, Commissioner for Information, Oyo State, and dated November 2, 2026.
