Makinde Celebrates Saka Balogun at 90, Describes Him as Exemplary Patriot

OYO State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has congratulated elder statesman and renowned politician, Dr Saka Balogun, on his 90th birthday, describing him as a worthy role model, exemplary patriot and outstanding community leader.

In a congratulatory statement issued on Wednesday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr Sulaimon Olanrewaju, the governor praised Dr Balogun’s lifelong commitment to public service, integrity and political leadership.

Makinde noted that the nonagenarian, who is the Balogun of Ogbomosoland and Chairman of the Oyo State Elders’ Council, has distinguished himself not only as an academic but also as a respected community leader whose contributions have positively impacted Oyo State and Nigeria.

The governor also commended Dr Balogun’s record of service, including his tenure as Chief of Staff to the late former Oyo State Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala.

“Today, we celebrate our father, Dr Saka Balogun, on the occasion of his 90th birthday,” Makinde said.He added that Dr Balogun had rendered decades of selfless service to Ogbomosoland, Oyo State and Nigeria, describing him as “a straightforward, upright and exemplary public servant” who has consistently contributed to the development of the state and remained courageous in speaking truth to power.Makinde prayed for continued good health, strength and many more years of impactful service for the elder statesman

“As he celebrates his 90th birthday still agile and always available to serve humanity, our prayers are that God will grant him more years and good health and may he continue to make impact on humanity.

Dr Balogun is widely regarded as one of Oyo State’s most respected elder statesmen, with decades of contributions to academia, public administration and community development.
