In a strong show of support for grassroots civic engagement, the Chairman of Oriire Local Government, Hon. Michael Alabi Olateju, and Oyo State lawmakers, Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin and Hon. Johnson Ogundele Akin, have thrown their weight behind the Oriire Youth Council’s PVC registration campaign ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The youth-led initiative, tagged #PVCForOriire, is part of a wider movement to increase voter awareness and participation across the local government. The campaign also aligns with the Council’s 10-Year Development Agenda (2024–2034) aimed at repositioning Oriire as a politically active and development-ready constituency.
During a meeting held at PlayOn Hotel and Suites, Ogbomoso, on Friday, July 4, 2025, Council Chairman Hon. Sarafadeen Owonikoko Isiaq and his team engaged Hon. Michael Olateju on the importance of mobilizing young people, women, and rural dwellers to register and vote.
In response, Hon. Olateju praised the youth leaders for their proactive, non-partisan approach and promised full support for the voter registration drive.
“I am proud of your coordinated efforts. This is what true leadership looks like. I will support the PVC drive and help make it a success,” he stated.
The momentum continued over the weekend when the Youth Council paid courtesy visits to Hon. Sanjo Adedoyin, Majority Leader of the Oyo State House of Assembly, and Hon. Johnson Ogundele Akin, who represents Oriire Constituency.
Hon. Adedoyin described the campaign as a “timely and strategic effort” to awaken civic responsibility and pledged logistics support.
“Mobilizing people to register and vote is essential for development. Your efforts will make a difference, and I commend your consistency,” he said.
On his part, Hon. Ogundele noted that increased voter turnout would strengthen Oriire’s political influence.
“Our political voice depends on our numbers. This campaign can change the trajectory of Oriire in Oyo State politics,” he added.
Vice Chairman II of the Council, Comrade Folasade Akanji, emphasized the campaign’s focus on including women and first-time voters.
“Every eligible woman must own her vote and her voice. We are taking this message to homes, schools, and markets,” she said.
The Council is set to hold a joint strategic session with INEC and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) on July 30, 2025, to fine-tune outreach plans and logistics.
The PVC sensitization drive will include town-hall meetings, market outreaches, school visits, radio campaigns, and branded mobilization teams across all wards in Oriire.
“We’re not just making noise—we’re making impact,” said Comrade Ojo Oluwasegun, the Council’s PRO II.
With high-level endorsements now in place, the #PVCForOriire campaign is fast becoming a model for youth-driven democratic participation in Oyo State.
