The Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, has reaffirmed its strong collaboration with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, dismissing reports suggesting any delay or reluctance in student loan disbursement.
In a statement issued by the University Registrar, Mrs. Olayinka O. Balogun, the institution clarified that recent comments made during its pre-convocation press briefing were misinterpreted in some sections of the media.
The University emphasized that its relationship with NELFUND remains cordial and productive, noting that the scheme has provided significant financial relief to students. It revealed that over ₦1.4 billion was successfully disbursed to its students in 2025, helping to expand access to education and ease financial burdens.
Providing an update on the current application cycle, the management disclosed that about 19,000 students applied for the loan scheme, out of which more than 15,000 applications have been verified in line with established procedures.
According to the statement, within the ongoing 2025/2026 academic session, a total of 5,237 students have already been approved and are currently awaiting disbursement, while other verified applications are at various stages of processing.
The University stressed that at no time did it suggest any inability or unwillingness on the part of NELFUND to release funds, adding that its earlier communication was solely aimed at informing stakeholders of the progress made so far.
LAUTECH reiterated its commitment to sustaining its partnership with NELFUND and other stakeholders, assuring that efforts are ongoing to ensure that students receive the necessary financial support to pursue their academic ambitions.
The institution also expressed appreciation to NELFUND for its continued cooperation and dedication to improving access to higher education in Nigeria.
