Late Alaafin was a Great Promoter Of Yoruba Culture, History – Makinde’s Aide, Ige

The Special Adviser to Oyo State Governor on Tourism and Culture, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige has joined other numerous Nigerians to mourn the death of the late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi (lll) saying the late monarch was a great repertoire of Yoruba culture, tradition and value.

Hon. Ademola Ige who is the Baameto Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland stated this in a release issued and made available to journalists over the passage of Oba Adeyemi who joined his ancestors in the early hour of today at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital. He was aged 83.

Ige who described the late monarch as a great counsellor, hinted that the wise counsel he used to give him anytime he had an opportunity of being with him during his lifetime would be missed.

He added that with the passage of the foremost traditional monarch, Oyo State has truly lost an unusual monarch, a great custodian of history and culture personified.

Hon. Akeem Ige further added that the late monarch who was popularly known and addressed as ‘Iku Baba yeye’ arguably the most brilliant Yoruba monarch who was deeply rooted in knowledge and history about the social, political and economy of the Yoruba race and Nigeria as a whole.

He added that Oba Addyemi’s 52 years on the throne was full of memorable events that the people of Oyo State, and indeed Nigeria and other international communities would be remembered for a long time to come.

Hon. Ige who extended his condolence message to the Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Otunba Gani Adams, the Oyomesi, and entire people of Oyo State and South west region over the passage of the revered monarch, prayed Almighty Allah to forgive him his shortcomings and admit him to aljanat fridaus especially for the fact that he died during the holy month of Ramadan.
