Supporters of Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, former Governor of Oyo state are already shopping for a new party following crisis rocking the party in the state .
The steps if successful may led to the failure of the party to have sizeable number of elective position in the coming election as majority of those who dominated the party are loyalists of the former Accord Party leader
Although some political observers are insinuating that the former governor may not return to the Accord Party but joins either Alliance for Democracy, AD or the Social Democratic Party SDP
A reliable source told our reporter that a committee saddled with shopping for a new party has been set up by the faction and that the committee was raised last week after a meeting between High Chief Ladoja and his loyalists held at his Bodija residence in Ibadan.
Our source disclosed that the planned dumping of PDP by High Chief Ladoja and his supporters might not be unconnected with the purported determination of the National Working Committee of the party “to tinker with the list” of the Oyo State party officers who were elected at a congress supervised and endorsed by the congress committee led by a former governor of Cross Rivers State, Liyel Imoke.
Ladoja while featuring on private radio programm on Monday, in Ibadan expresses suprise that the impunity which drove him away from the PDP in 2010 and which he was promised had become a thing of the past had surfaced again.
“It was impunity that drove us from the PDP and if they allow the impunity to return, we will leave the party for them. We brought Accord less than four months to the 2011 elections and the people of the state accepted the party. Wherever there is impunity, you will not find me there. How will some people think of going to Abuja to ask them to help to substitutes names of their preferred candidates in the list of duly elected officers? It is very wrong and we will not accept that,” he said.
” There was only one state congress held as far as I am concerned and Alhaji Kunmi Mustapha emerged as the chairman. The issue of the state executive being shared 14 and 12 does not even arise at all. There is and there will be nothing like that.”
When contacted on phone, the Spokesperson for Ladoja group, Engineer Akeem Adeniyi said , yes it is through that they are planning to leave the party but the National body of the party are trying their effort in resolving the crisis
