Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN.Vice Chancellor Kwara State University is dead.
Akanbi,a son of the late Hon.
Justice Muhammed Mustapha Adebayo Ajao Akanbi (the Pioneer Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission, ICPC) died on Sunday night after a protracted illness.
KWASU Registrar, Mrs Kikelomo Salle, confirmed this in a statement issued in Ilorin on Sunday
The statement reads:
“With very heavy heart but in total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, the Management of Kwara State University announces the death of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi SAN.”
“The sad event took place today, 20th November 2022 after a protracted illness.”
They however urge all to remember the immediate and extended family and the University in prayers in this very trying time.
Burial arrangement will be announced soon.
Akanbi,a professor of law was appointed as KWASU VC in 2020 after the expiration of Professor Abulrasheed Na’ Allah’s tenure
The legal luminary who hails from Ile Magaji kemberi, Awodi, Gambari Quarters, Ilorin East, graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife with a Bachelor’s
degree in Law with second class division in 1993.
He attended the Nigerian Law School, Victoria island Lagos, where he also bagged the second class upper division. He was called to bar in 1995.
