Kunle Afolayan, founder and Chief Executive Officer of KAP Film Village & Resort, has been honoured with the Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the just-concluded International Tourism Investment Summit (#ITSOyoState2025) held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The three-day summit, which ran from July 22nd to 24th, brought together key players in Nigeria’s tourism and hospitality industry, including government officials, investors, developers, creatives, and stakeholders.
The summit served as a strategic platform to spotlight Oyo State’s vast tourism potential, focusing on eco-tourism, cultural heritage, leisure, and destination development.

The high point of the event came during the Governor’s Dinner and Tourism Awards Night, where Afolayan was recognised for his exceptional contributions to the sector through the development of the KAP Film Village & Resort. The award celebrates his innovative efforts in merging film, tourism, and culture to promote Nigeria’s creative economy and attract both local and international visitors.
Situated in the quiet town of Igbojaye, Oyo State, KAP Film Village & Resort has grown into one of Nigeria’s most celebrated tourism destinations. It combines film production, hospitality, and African heritage into a unique cultural experience that reflects the richness of Nigerian tradition.
In his reaction, Afolayan described the award as a “deeply humbling and motivating honour” that validates years of hard work and creative vision. “This recognition is not just about one man’s dream, but a testament to the passion and dedication of the entire KAP team. It encourages us to continue building a space that preserves culture, inspires creativity, and tells African stories to the world,” he said.
He expressed appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde, Hon. Akinwale Akinwole (Wolekanle), Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Service Commission, Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, Tola Akerele, CEO of the National Theatre, and the Oyo State Ministry of Tourism for their unwavering support and efforts in promoting tourism and creative enterprise.
With the latest recognition, KAP Film Village & Resort reaffirmed its commitment to expanding Nigeria’s tourism footprint through innovation, cultural storytelling, and community-driven development.
“You don’t have to travel abroad to experience peace, beauty, or culture,” Afolayan added. “KAP offers all that — right here at home in Nigeria.”
