Alliance for Democracy gubernatorial aspirant in Oyo state Dr Akin Onigbinde SAN has said recognizing June 12 as a Democracy day and honouring Late MKO Abiola with GCFR title by president Muhammadu Buhari is not a mileage for him to win 2019 presidential election

Speaking at a media parley on Friday’s evening in Ibadan, the legal luminary  commended the initiative of the President Mohammadu Buhari for making June 12 Democracy Day and honouring late MKO Abiola with the title noting that it will bring succour to his family members and lovers.

According to him, there are many unresolved problems that the present administration need to solve to be able to win people’s confidence ranging from Niger Delta crises, Fulani herdsmen and other unresolved problems.

Speaking on prevalence of corruption and negative effects in the country, Onigbinde noted that corruption has done a lot of damages to the country even that anti graft agencies can’t handle it any longer.

He said to this end, the country need more instrumentalities to tackle the menace while people need to change their orientation towards corruption.

He maintained that the reason corruption is holding sway today is because society generally has been deteriorated unlike 25 years and beyond of the country’s political landscape. Onigbinde hinted that he was able to succeed and contributed as speaker to governance of Oyo State because he had made up his mind never to compromise his standard.

The Ogbomoso born legal luminary also  disclosed that he is running for 2019 governorship election under Alliance for Democracy, AD to restore the sanity into governance of Oyo State.

He stated that the ruling APC government in Oyo State has turned people to beggars on the street and they only live on loans which they can’t pay.

He added that many members of APC are of different  missions, a reason they can’t head the state to a successful destination. He said AD from onset is a party with ideology whose members have same vision and mission thus, poise to take Oyo State to the dreamed land.

Onigbinde while speaking on why he left politics for some period, he said “I left political stage for some time because I’m not a political jobber. A dignified politician goes back to what he’s does (Profession) after serving in a political office to improve on his professionalism and become a better person and a prerequisite to prepare for a next political position to perform excellently”.

He therefore charged the youths on responsibility, integrity and knowledge that governance requires to wrestle power from the elderly ones but felt disheartened that youths don’t show their readiness to take power as it were in the past.
