The news about the demise of Mr Ojekanmi in the wee our hours of September 14, 2024 like a thunderbolt. He had departed previous night suddenly after returning home from an event. According to the report from his family, he went to the toilet to ease himself, alas, that was where it all ends for the Icon.
Ojekanmi was a seasoned administrator with the Oyo state local government service commission and served in various posts and reached the pinnacle of his career as HLA before retiring about two years ago.
All was not bed of roses for Ojekanmi and his educational attainment was through the dint of hard work and grace of God.
He was the pioneering president of Anglican Grammar School Sabo Ogbomoso. His tenure sets the the association on the path glory. Any one visiting the school or passing through the truck road in Ogbomoso would see the beauty that Anglican Grammar School Sabo Ogbomoso has become.
He was replaced by Professor Gbenga Bello of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso. Bello has been building on the foundation laid by Ojekanmi to position the school as a primus inter pares in the nation. One thing that touched my mind when I heard about his demise is that it appears he had the premonition of his imminent exit.
Around July this year, he commissioned me to write his concise biography. He actually sent his profile to me and I did. In the night of August 30, he called that he has flashed his handset and lost the biography and if I still had it on my phone I should send it. Unfortunately, I also flashed my phone and lost all the documents there. I then asked him to resend his profile so that I can rewrite it.
That was the last conversation I had with him, the next is to hear the news about his demise. What a world? The consolation that all whose path had crossed that of Ojee is that he lived a beautiful life. He was a gentleman to the core. He was cerebral, he carried himself with candor. He was a lover of perfection and love beautiful things. He was humble and kind hearted. He was a lover of accountability, this was exhibited during his tenure as president of Anglican Grammar School Sabo Ogbomoso old students association.
He and his colleagues in the exco gave account of their stewardship as and when due. No Kobo was lost during his tenure and Gbenga Bello is sustaining this lofty heritage of Ojekanmi. Ojekanmi was a good christian and a member of Ayegun Baptist Church where he held various positions in the administration of that church until his home call.
He served his father land meritoriously and posterity would be kind with him. He has left his footprints on the sand of time and would be remembered. He has joined the saint triumph and Free from the hassle of this world. He was survived by his wife , children and siblings. May God almighty accept him to the fold of the saints. Adieu baba Ojee, blessed be your memory.
