Residents of several communities in Ibadan on Saturday staged a peaceful protest to draw government attention to the deplorable condition of key access roads in the area, calling for urgent intervention to address the long-standing neglect.

The protest, led by the Central Chairman of the affected communities, Engr. Awe highlighted the worsening state of roads linking Ita Faaji, Olohan, Fenwa, Alada, Opo Pin, Olude, Oganla, Agbofieti, Aba Ege, Aba Omo, and Orisunmibare.
The demonstrators expressed frustration over what they described as years of government abandonment of critical infrastructure. They noted that the roads have become virtually impassable, especially during the rainy season—affecting transportation, damaging vehicles, and stifling local businesses.

“We are not asking for too much,” Engr. Awe said while addressing people during the peaceful protest. “All we want is for the government to listen to our cries. These roads connect several communities and are critical to our daily lives, yet they have been left to deteriorate for far too long.”
Residents also raised concerns about the health and security risks posed by the poor road conditions, stressing that emergency services often struggle to access their neighborhoods during critical situations.
They called on the Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, to prioritize the inclusion of the affected roads in the next phase of the state’s ongoing road rehabilitation and infrastructure upgrade projects.
