The Iseyin Council of Societies (ISC) has commended Governor Abiola Ajimobi for the award of the only road that links Oke-Ogun to the state capital, Ibadan.
The ISC, which is the umbrella body of all clubs, organisations and societies of Iseyin Indigenes, home and abroad, made this commendation in a letter addressed to the governor and signed by Messrs. Lukman Adeoti and Ganiyu Ademola, the President and Secretary respectively.
The Council said “rehabilitation of this important road has been long overdue but neglected by past administrators in the state. However, your administration has given it necessary attention because of the love you have for Iseyin and Oke-Ogun people.”
The Council posited that the people of Iseyin and Oke-Ogun area have not had it so good until the Ajimobi administration, saying that they are witnessing tremendous infrastructural development especially in the area of road construction and rehabilitation, completion of the permanent orientation site for the Youth Corps members, establishment of Aso Ofi International Market, key political appointments amongst others.
The umbrella socio – political group stressed that Governor Ajimobi deserves commendation for being the first governor of the state to construct a dual carriage road in the whole of the Oke-Ogun zone.
The ICS assured that the kind gesture of the governor will forever be appreciated, adding that Iseyin communities and environs will continue to support the government in its infrastructural development and agricultural revolution.
Similarly, community leaders in Ibadan Metropolis have lauded Governor Ajimobi for the ongoing construction of 150km of roads in various communities in the state, saying that some of these long awaited asphaltic road projects would serve as alternative routes and eliminate traffic congestion in the neighborhoods.
The Chairman, Otuleye Area, Contonu Layout , Oke’badan Local Council Development Area, Waheed Ajao and Former Vice Chairman, Ifesowapo Community, Zone One, Odo Ona Elewe in Oluyole Local Government, Deacon David Soyonbo, gave the commendation during a joint inspection of road projects with the Oyo State Government inspection team in their localities.
The duo emphasized the need for citizens to support and contribute their quota to the realization of these laudable projects in various communities for the overall development of the state, urging that necessary measures should be put in place by various communities to ensure that the roads are maintained adequately.
Speaking shortly after the inspection, the Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Bimbo Kolade affirmed that every society will witness rapid development if community members see the need to continually support government programmes, projects and policies as expected.
“It is obvious that development has to be continuous to enhance sustainable growth. This is why the present administration is working round the clock to have even development in the state. We are not going to relent in our efforts to transform the state and ease transportation across towns and communities,” Kolade added.
